Jonathan Harris is the firm’s founding partner. He counsels plaintiffs and defendants in high stakes litigation, arbitrations and investigations, and specializes in litigation against the country’s largest corporations, international financial institutions, and against the U.S. government.
In his career, Mr. Harris has achieved successful outcomes as lead counsel for numerous plaintiffs and defendants, including multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for his clients in trials, arbitrations and class actions. Jon’s recent case wins include a $21 million jury verdict in federal court for the Learning Annex; a $61 million arbitration award for a hedge fund against a major international bank in one of the largest awards ever granted by a FINRA panel; and defeating all fraud charges in a month long federal jury trial brought by the SEC against an individual stockbroker.
In his role as defense counsel, Mr. Harris currently represents the family of the former president of Taiwan in a forfeiture action brought by the U.S. Government. Throughout his career he has represented high profile defendants in investigations and in actions brought by the Department of Justice and the SEC. In 2005, Mr. Harris served as lead clemency counsel for Stanley Tookie Williams. As plaintiffs’ counsel, Mr. Harris represents hedge funds, partnerships, investors and individuals in commercial, securities and employment matters.
Mr. Harris has been named a Super Lawyer for New York (2011 – 2013) in the areas of litigation and employment, and as American Lawyer’s Co-Litigator of the Week (October 2011). The National Trial Lawyers organization named Mr. Harris to its elite list of Top 100 Trial Lawyers in New York in 2013.
Prior to founding the firm, Jon worked closely for a decade with legendary criminal trial lawyer Peter Fleming, Jr. at Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, and practiced with prominent plaintiffs’ firm Bernstein Litowitz Berger & Grossman LLP.
Jon clerked for Federal Judge Thomas P. Griesa in the Southern District of New York. He is a 1984 graduate of Stanford University, and a 1987 graduate of Stanford Law School. Mr. Harris is admitted to the bars of New York and California.
